The China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) was founded in 1990. It is a national first-level society approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China and a formal institutional member of the China Association for Science and Technology.

Since its establishment, CSIG has actively united scientific and technical workers in image and graphics research from fields such as electronics, computer science, AI, automation, communications, biomedicine, and aerospace. It promotes fundamental research, technological innovation, and widespread application of image and graphics. The society has over 40,000 members, with 14 working committees and 33 professional committees covering areas including new-generation IT, AI and smart manufacturing, aerospace technology, image information engineering, and computer graphics.

CSIG focuses on academic leadership, industrial enablement, and ecosystem building. Its work includes academic exchanges, exhibitions, training, talent recommendation, policy consultation, achievement appraisal, technology transfer, and international cooperation. CSIG publishes Visual Intelligence and the Journal of Image and Graphics, serving as a bridge for professionals and a key force for innovation in the field.
