China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG)

China Society of Image and Graphics is a national academic organization founded  in 1990 and qualified with independent legal personality. It consists of several thousand scientists and engineers from all cover the country. In addition, a large number of famous universities, research institutes and IT enterprises are group members of the Society.

The goal of the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) is to coordinate the scientists and engineers in the field of image and graphics to conduct research and promote development and industrial applications. The main areas of expertise include: digital image processing, image understanding, computer vision, image compression and transmission, volume visualization technique, visualization in scientific computing, virtual reality, multimedia technology, pattern recognition, computer graphics, medical image processing, computer animation, and spatial information system.

The mission of the CSIG is to organize scientific exchange, promote the development of the discipline, disseminate new techniques, identify and recommend outstanding professionals and experts, popularize information related to image and graphics, promote scientific ideas and methods, publish scientific books and journals, exchange with the international community, etc. CSIG also provides numerous services to its members, such as conducting various activities and protecting their rights.

CSIG has 14 working committees and 30 technical committees. It also has three popular journals: Visual Intelligence, Journal of Image and Graphics, and Communications of CSIG.

Since its inception, CSIG has held a number of academic conferences, including the Chinese Congress on Image and Graphics (CCIG) and the International Conference on Image and Graphics (ICIG). It has also held National Conference on Multimedia and Young Scientist Conference, etc., which strengthens academic community and contacts with international colleagues. These conferences received positive comments from domestic and foreign experts and participants.
